AMERICAN BASKETBALL TEAM VISITS CHINA
The Aston Educational Group has been in the Sino-American education industry for over 20 years, providing many fun and interesting language and culture learning activities. One event that took place recently is our American Basketball team’s visit to China.
This April 4th, 2017, our American high school basketball team, consisting of 11 players and their coach, who was a player in the NBA, arrived in China for a 16 day sports cultural exchange visit. The team comes from our Balboa School in California, U.S.A and is owned by the Aston Educational Group. During the visit the team will share sports and educational culture differences with Aston English Schools and how they relate to educational organizations in China. The team will visit lots of cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Xian, Chengdu, Xiamen, Fuzhou, and Quanzhou.
Teamwork, international exchange, and healthy exercise are a big foundation of our educational culture. With this in mind, our Balboa School has built its international basketball program, attracting students from countries around the world, such as: Ghana, Russia, Germany, New Zealand, Venezuela, China, Canada, and Senegal. The program has been highly effective in mentoring student athletes and teaching them the value of a modern and relevant education. The basketball team’s visit to China will be happening soon and will help to promote Sino-American student’s education exchange and increase cross culture understanding.
“Balboa’s American basketball team” is the “basketball dream team” that aims at helping youth all around the world to realize their sports dream.
The team consist of 11 high school students whose passion has allowed them to have a great record, including being ranked 13th in United States on Max Prep and having several players be awarded the MVP of the year. It has also got a competitive record in the international games held in the cities of Munich Germany, Tijuana, Mexico, and Las Vegas, NV in 2015 and 2016. Besides being great on the court with a record of 35-6 the team has an outstanding overall GPA (grade point average) of 3.56.
Head Coach: Zack Jones
Having experience playing in the NBA and being the head coach of ABA WEST ALL STAR Team he has a great amount of knowledge and understanding to help his athletes succeed. He has trained over 115 basketball players for many universities in United States in his 24-year career, 31 of whom have entered the division I leagues.
