A street beggar is the most unfortunate fellow. When a man becomes too much poverty-stricken and finds no other jobs for living, he takes up begging. He is mostly found in the streets of towns. A beggar is also found in the village. A beggar looks miserable. He puts on dirty ragged clothes. He is seen begging from the passers-by at bus stand, train station, launch terminal, mosque and other crowded places. He has a begging bowl. When he sees any man passing by, he holds out the begging- bowl with a piteous appeal. Some beggars beg from door to door. He expresses blessing for those who give him something. Sometimes we find some beggars who actually do not need to beg. Yet they take begging as a profession. A beggar is looked down upon as a nuisance. But he is, after all, a man. He has a human soul. But the fact is that this poor fellow is often treated inhumanly. (Words: 162)
