He made the announcement on his verified Facebook page on Monday afternoon. At that time, it was advised to cut the remaining crops in Sylhet division by May 20.

Meteorologist Palash said in the agricultural weather forecast that all weather forecast models are predicting regular rains over the districts of Sylhet division, especially Sunamganj and Sylhet districts. As a result, there is a fear that the beels in the haor areas of Sylhet division will be flooded with water from the hill slopes.

He said these areas could be flooded within the next 15 days.

If there is still rice left to harvest in any bill, it has been advised to harvest it by May 20.

Earlier on Sunday, he had said that there is a strong possibility of a cyclone forming in the Bay of Bengal. This cyclone may form between May 23 and 28. The possible name of this cyclone will be ‘Shakti’. There is a strong possibility that the cyclone will hit the land between May 24 and 26, somewhere between the Odisha coast of India and the Chittagong coast of Bangladesh.

However, there is a relatively high chance of it hitting land over West Bengal and Khulna divisions.
