When I claimed to have spent more than 11 hours a day on my phone, no one took me seriously. I spent the entire day on it, texting, watching YouTube videos, and scrolling. I was so addicted that, like a zombie with no consciousness, I took my phone, opened YouTube, and began watching shorts. This was causing harm to every part of my life, so I decided to take action.
I have tried many methods to cure my addiction such as Dopamine detox, Using app blockers and manyProductivity apps but nothing worked. I tried hiding my phone and switching to a “Dumb Phone” but I found myself keep finding ways to watch Youtube videos. I was so desperate for a cure for my addiction, my YouTube feed was all productivity videos from internet gurus. What’s an efficient way to overcome procrastination?
“I was procrastinating by watching productivity videos”
One day I saw a video titled,
“I replaced my Phone with a NoteBook”
I instantly clicked on the video and watched it until the end.
In that video the creator explained how to replace your phone with a notebook. I also wanted to try this method so I got myself a small pocket Notebook that can also hold a pen. This was hurting every part of my life, so I decided to do something about it.
Basically You will keep that Notebook with you all the time and every time you feel like pulling out your phone, You pull out that notebook instead. And then writing and sketching whatever You want.
At first I was writing down how I felt at the moment.
And then I found out about jurneling and started keeping a to-do list on it
Not only that I started writing down ideas that popped into my mind to save them for later.
The Notebook didn’t cure my addiction that quick, it took some time but ‘It was the cure’. The small notebook kept reminding me of my addiction every time I saw it or felt it inside my pocket. What’s an efficient way to overcome procrastination?

That, I believe, was the main factor in its success. It was both the problem’s cause and its remedy at the same time.
My screen time decreased gradually over time to about two to three hours. Instead of watching videos on YouTube, I was making sketches in my notebook.
I got more interested in books in general so I started reading more books like “Deep work” and “Atomic habits” and That helped me a lot too.
My life was a upward spiral from that point and it all started with a small Notebook.
